Abstract
Hair loss can have many causes, and include stress, past illness, smoking, nutritional deficiencies, taking certain medications (including cytostatics), excessive heavy metals in the body, and systemic diseases (including hormonal disorders, infectious diseases, diabetes, cancer) and diseases of the scalp (psoriasis, mycosis fungoides and others). The most common types of alopecia include androgenetic and telogenetic alopecia. Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disease that requires specialized treatment.
In the treatment of alopecia, it is first and foremost important to make a correct diagnosis. Depending on the established cause and type of alopecia, pharmacotherapy, individually tailored esthetic procedures (e.g. needle mesotherapy, LED, carboxytherapy), and supplementation are used, which should be based on an assessment of the patient’s baseline condition.
