Abstract

Aesthetic physiotherapy is a developing new specialist branch of knowledge.
It rests on two pillars: the first is rehabilitation after surgery, the second – improving the patient’s appearance when it can be achieved by non-surgical methods.
Rehabilitation after plastic surgeries is aimed at increasing the comfort and safety of the patient and helping to achieve the best aesthetic results of the previously performed surgery.
The use of all elements of physiotherapy – such as kinesiotherapy, physical therapy, and various massage techniques – is equally important. Properly selected, multi-stage treatments are holistic and take into account the condition of the whole organism. Well-planned physiotherapy helps to reduce postoperative pain and improve the conditions for tissue healing and regenerative processes. Physiotherapy is also used in the event of complications – in addition to the main surgical treatment.
Physiotherapy (physical methods, movement and massage techniques) can be used can also be used to improve appearance in a non-operative manner.
